Ballon Rouge from Cros des Calades brings you the sunny soul of the south of France. This blend of Grenache, Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon opens with aromas of ripe red berries – think raspberries and cherries – layered with a hint of spice. Cros des Calades is a new project from Florence and Benoît of Château de la Selve. Based in Grospierres, they vinify grapes from five organically farmed plots in the southern Rhône Valley. Their philosophy remains the same as at Château de la Selve – maximum respect for terroir and minimal intervention in the cellar. The wines are light, playful, and approachable – from reds and whites to rosés, including both classic and pink Pet-Nats.
