Domaine Bornard - Vin Jaune 2014
Jura | white, dry |
Is there which screams more "Jura" than Vin Jaune?
Vin Jaune aka yellow wine, is a specialty of the Jura wine region. Wine aged according to appellation rules for a minimum of 6 years and 3 months in untopped barrels under a layer of flor. The result is an oxidative wine that has an incredibly interesting structure and meditative character, notes of nuts and apples in the aromatics and huge potential in food pairing. A typical partner for Vin Jaune is a mature Comté cheese, which is combo that entire Winegeek team can vouch for. The bottle can remain open for several weeks, more air will only benefit this style of wine.

Tony is the proud and talented successor to his father, the well-known winemaker Philippe Bornard, and one of the most sought-after young winemakers in the Jura region
His valuable father's advice, a degree from a wine university, and an internship in Australia gave him a solid background for a winery of his own, which he founded in 2013 and merged with his father's land in his native Pupillin shortly afterwards. Tony's wines are backed by a traditional approach and at the same time made with the joy of experimentation. Tony's style is a little bit more funky than his father's.
