Tomáš Trejbal - Neronet Kalamář 2014
Mělník | red dry |
Full, heavier and fruity wine from Bohemia? Here it is!
Neronet is an interesting variety, rarely you encounter such full-bodied reds as from Neronet at our place. Cultivated in Moravian Lednice in 1965 and very rich in natural pigments. This particular one has also spent 5 years in barrels in Mělník.

Tomáš is a real son of Mělník region, his family settled here several generations ago. You can meet his ancestors also on expressive labels of his wine. He started as an importer of wines many years ago and was influenced by few natural winemakers. His wines get better every vintage and the winery shows a lot of potential. Maceration on skins, aging in barrels or amphorae are typical traits of his playful production. All this happens on marl soil called opuka, typical for Mělník region north and northwest from Prague. It gives great saltiness to his wines! Tomáš works with Riesling, Pinot Noir, Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay, Kerner, Dornfelder, Blauer Portugieser and Hibernal. Gotta try!
