Sextant - Coteaux Bourguignons 2021
Bourgogne | red, dry |
A lighter red that is best enjoyed slightly chilled.
70% Pinot Noir and 30% Gamay. A cuvée of two very traditional varieties from this region. The wine is light, fresh and energic. Nothing fundamentally complicated, but it stands out for its drinkability.
Burgundy, Saint Aubin
This kind and friendly Frenchman helped winemaker Dominic Derain for more than 10 years, adopted his philosophy of natural wines and started creating his own, even bolder, sulphur-free and filtration-free wines in his cellar under the name Sextant. His aim is not spectacular, but true wine. And while he has Chardonnays and Pinots in fairly classic forms, macerated Aligoté and Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir cuvées with Gamay, and wild pét-nats seem like rebellions among Burgundian classics, but are in demand at renowned establishments across Europe. Julien now barrel ages both his own wines and those from the vineyards of Dominic Derain, who recently entrusted his production entirely to Julien. Both brands remain faithful to biodynamics and small batches from extremely interesting crus of great quality.
